On-Line Fire Reporting
Effective immediately, fire departments using paper reporting can log on to http://ps02firelogin.sd.gov/. Following your log in, enter your FDID number (fire department identification number) as your password to begin. The reporting procedure is an easy, step-by-step process with helpful drop-down boxes to guide you in providing the proper information and navigate you through the report.
Fire departments currently using fire reporting software can and should continue to use it for submission of the reports to our office, as this information is acceptable in its current form.
We remind all fire departments that the submission of fire reports is not only required by those departments applying for and receiving fire act grants, but it is also critical in providing information to the US Fire Administration's national database. It is through this information that trends in fires across the United States can be identified and, hopefully, prevented.
If you have questions regarding this new opportunity, please contact the State Fire Marshal's Office anytime by calling 605.773.3562. Remember, it is only through the use of statistics that we can further our fire prevention efforts, not only in South Dakota, but nationwide.
