Fall 2003 Class

The 2003 South Dakota Highway Patrol Fall Recruit class reported for training on August 24, 2003 at 1600 hours. Lt. Sheldon, Sgt. Svendsen, and first weeks Cadre Sgt. Millard, greeted twelve new recruits at the training center in Pierre.
Colonel Mosteller and Major Carpenter gave the recruits a warm welcome to the patrol, followed by an overview of what was expected during the next twenty-one weeks at the academy. During the next few days the recruits were introduced to teamwork, time management and physical training. The majority of the week was spent completing administrative paperwork, equipment issue, and studying the policies and procedures of the Highway Patrol Operations Manual with Captain Ingemunson. As the week drew to an end the Highway Patrol Recruits were adjusting to their new surroundings, schedules and teammates.
