Graduation Announcement
13 recruits who started their Academy training in Pierre on June 7, 2004, did graduate January 14, 2005. They have completed 21 weeks of academy, plus an additional 10 weeks of field training with their field training officers. They join their squads across the state and begin their careers as State Troopers. Announced below are their names and duty stations:

The graduation ceremony begins at 1000 in the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre. They will be joined in Pierre by family and friends who will be there to wish them well. Featured graduation speakers will be Colonel Dan Mosteller of the Highway Patrol, DPS Secretary Tom Dravland, and Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson. Recruit Desmond Watson will present the recruit class speech.
The next SDHP Recruit Academy begins February 14, 2005. Check back often to see preparations for the class. The site will contain a Recruit Academy weekly update, providing insight to the daily life of recruit troopers and the training they receive.
