Highway Patrol

Spring 2004 Week 13

This week we all had a chance to practice the Motor Carrier skills we had learned a few weeks ago. All of the Recruits spent the week at a Port of Entry weighing trucks, issuing and checking permits, and helping write tickets when violations were found.

There are four Ports of Entry in the State of South Dakota, Tilford, Jefferson, Sisseton, and Sioux Falls. Jefferson was closed for the week for upgrades so the Recruits split up among the other three. Several Recruits were able to stay at home for the week if they lived close enough.

Thanks to all of the Inspectors who helped us throughout the week.

Submitted by Recruits Watson, Hansen, and Albertson.
