Human Trafficking Information
Victims of human trafficking may either be victims of sex trafficking or forced labor. Often times they are victims of sexual assault or other physical violence, abuse and neglect. Human Trafficking Victims can be both adults and children.
The South Dakota Crime Victims' Compensation Program provides monetary assistance to victims of violent crimes, including human trafficking. This Department of Public Safety program can pay victims of state, tribal, or federal crimes, a maximum of $15,000 for expenses incurred as a direct result of personal injury or death.
The South Dakota Victims’ Services Program funds shelters that provide numerous services to victims of violent crimes, including human trafficking. Click here to view a list of South Dakota Shelters.
