Replacement or Duplicate Licenses
If you’ve lost your license, you can apply for a replacement by mail or online if you haven’t requested one online or by mail in the last 10 years.
To check the status of your replacement request, email us or call (605) 773-6883.
Apply for a Duplicate Online
Here’s what you need to apply online:
- You’ll need to upload or mail two documents to prove your residential/physical address (cannot be handwritten documents). Documents must show your name and be less than one year old. Active military personnel and their dependents may use two documents proving their out-of-state residential address or APO/FPO address (if stationed overseas).
- If your name has changed, you’ll need to apply in person at a driver licensing location and provide a certified legal document proving the name change. If your name has changed more than once, you'll need a certified document (from a government entity -- not from the church) showing each name change.
- We accept Visa or MasterCard for payment.
Once finished, your license will be mailed in 3-4 weeks. If you’re mailing proof of address documents, it may take longer. All information in your online transaction will be secure. A $2.00 payment processing fee will be charged in addition to the renewal fee. If you’re having difficulties using this site, email us or call (605) 773-6883.
