Identification Cards

Obtain or Renew a Non-Driver ID Card

An identification card is an official document that can be used to validate your identity if you’re a non-driver or don’t have a South Dakota Driver’s License. There’s no age requirement for an ID card.  To apply for an identification card, please schedule an appointment to visit an exam station in person.

To apply for an ID card, you’ll need a few required documents.

If you’re under age 21 with less than five years until your 21st birthday, your ID card will expire 30 days after your 21st birthday.  To renew your ID card, you can apply online or by mail.
